Customization and Data Sync

Presets​

Pickn supports presets that bundle:

  • Toolbar button layout
  • Button appearance (color and style)
  • Keyboard shortcuts
  • Floating button visibility

This helps you switch quickly between different usage styles.

Button Appearance​

You can customize action button color and style from the built-in palette.

Floating Button​

The floating Pickn button can be shown or hidden depending on your preference.

Data Sync (Optional)​

If you create an account and sign in, Pickn can sync your settings across devices through the cloud.

  • This feature is optional.
  • Core Pickn functionality works without an account.
  • Account sync requires an active Pro entitlement. If Pro expires, Pickn keeps sync data on this device and pauses sync until the entitlement is restored.

When Pro expires​

Pickn stops cloud sync as soon as the entitlement is no longer active. The encrypted server copy is retained for 30 days from the confirmed loss of access so a renewal before that deadline can resume sync without an avoidable reset.

After the retention deadline, Pickn deletes the server copy. If that cleanup is still being confirmed, the Account view shows that it is pending and keeps cloud sync paused. Once deletion is complete, signing in again creates a new empty cloud namespace; your local settings remain on this device and can be imported into it.

Signing out and deleting an account​

Signing out removes the extension's local access credentials. It does not delete local settings, your subscription, or the retained server copy. Export or review any pending work before removing local data from a device.

Deleting a Pickn account first disables sync and revokes extension sessions. At the end of the deletion grace period, Pickn confirms deletion of the server sync copy before it deletes the account's local service records. A temporary delivery delay never restores account access or skips that confirmation.

Sync limits and reset​

Sync has bounded storage and payload limits so one account cannot grow without bound. Normal snapshot pages contain up to 100 records; recovery can use pages of up to 250 records. Namespace reset uploads use at most 100 records per page and complete within 250 pages. Pickn may pause or ask you to retry when a payload, local storage, or account limit is reached; this does not mean that settings were silently discarded.

If a device has a large or conflicted local graph, finish or cancel the visible recovery/reset action before starting another one. Do not delete the extension's IndexedDB manually while a reset or recovery is in progress.

Account deletion and retention​

Requesting account deletion starts a visible deletion workflow. Sync content is erased only after the server confirms the final deletion command. A temporary network failure may leave the workflow pending and safe to resume; retrying the same request is idempotent. After content-erasure confirmation, reactivation cannot restore the erased namespace; a new sync setup starts from a clean state.

Entitlement expiry pauses cloud sync and retains content during the documented grace period. If the grace period ends, Pickn requires confirmed content purge before a later activation can create or use a namespace. Local settings remain available for the normal local-only experience.
